Cockfighters Lose Honolulu Rooster Control Contract

It looks like Honolulu will no longer pay a company that supports cockfighting to wrangle feral chickens and crowing roosters around Oahu.

According to the Human Society, the city and county of Honolulu decided not to renew its $60,000 a year contract with Royos Farms, a group the Humane Society says has proven ties to cockfighting.

A spokesperson for the Human Society said the new contractor will be Animal Haven, Inc., a nonprofit that’s listed purpose is to prevent cruelty to animals.
