It’s Official, New Honolulu Council Seat on Nov. 6 Ballot

The Honolulu City Council said goodbye to Tulsi Gabbard today and voted to hold a special election that will coincide with the Nov. 6 general election.

Not long after, three people threw their names into the running to take over for Gabbard’s seat.

Among the candidates who filed paperwork Wednesday are former Honolulu City Council Member Jon Yoshimura, real estate broker Bob Vieira and consultant Ryan Kapuniai.

Both Vieira and Kapuniai have experience running for office. Vieira unsuccessfully ran for the District 6 council seat in 2010. Kapuniai lost in the Aug. 11 primary for a seat in the state House of Representatives.

I’m sure we’ll see several more candidate emerge between now and the Aug. 31 candidate filing deadline.
